Car ‘Mysteriously’ Cut in Half

Halfcar.jpeg

Cops have them. Why can’t everyone? We’re talking about those in-car cameras that capture everything a cop car sees. Now, it seems, singapore-based car insurance company, DriveSheild, wants everyone to have one…for free.

To tout this offering, the company, with help from TribalDDB, created an installation whereby a car appeared to have been engulfed by the ground. On third of the vehicle appears below the surface. A video offers a clue as to how this happened.

To more stunts are said to follow.

LG Freaks Out Elevator Riders With Disappearing Floor

lg_elavator_floor.png

Seemingly to illustrate just how realistic its picture is, LG outfitted an elevator floor with a TV screen that made the floor look as if it were falling away. As riders entered the elevator and pushed their floor button, the lights dimmed and flickered, nasty mechanical noises are heard and the floor falls out from underneath riders.

Of course, all the riders are likely actors. For two reasons. They all get out on the same floor they entered. And, well, we’re sure LG doesn’t want a rash of people suing them for causing heart attacks. And, besides, these people just don’t looked scared enough. In any event, interesting stunt.

The sign instructed people to take a picture of their shoes, upload the photo to Instagram, tag the photo #aldo and add their shoe size. Each person, 457 of them, where delivered a pair of shoes by mobile ALDo show box.

The campaign video claims 798,385 interactions resulted from the stunt and the Instagram integration.

The Impact of Industry Consolidation on How Agencies Work Together

agency_consolidation.jpeg

With (now denied) rumors having swirled about the advertising industry a while back that giant advertising holding company Publicis Groupe would swallow up Interpublic Group, the notion of agency consolidation has become almost comical. It wasn’t so long ago that independent advertising agencies ruled the industry. Today behemoths like Publicis, MDC, Interpublic, Publicis WPP and Omnicom now control the lion’s share of ad agencies.

This consolidation has wreaked havoc in many areas of agency operations – not the least of which are the numerous client conflicts that arise when one agency buys another and then the two realize they now handle competing brands, a no-no in the ad world.

But an area of concern that receives much less press and attention is agency operations – the plain, old, boring notion to how an agency gets work done. It’s not sexy but, believe me, the fastest way to lose a client is complicated and confusing operational methodologies.

Dell Helps Business Achieve Great Outcomes

dell_outcomes_commercial.png

I had a Dell. It served me well for six years. An Inspiron laptop. But now I have an Apple MacBook Pro. Love it. Doesn’t mean I don’t like Dell but I do like the MacBook better. None of which really matters but all of this popped into my head when viewing Dell’s new Dell Outcomes commercial created by Y&R and produced by B-Reel.

The ad focuses on the far reaching influence Dell products can and do have on people’s lives. From the entrepreneur who uses it to develop a new product to the ability to make 70,000 financial trades every second to serving individual’s needs to helping doctors battle cancer.

I think it does a nice job conveying the fact technology does play an important and key role in what humans can and do achieve. Surely Dell isn’t the only technology platform that can achieve this but they are a big one and a pervasive one and one that has inevitably made a difference.
